Emotional Well-being

May 2, 2019

Living a Holistic lifestyle is healthy for everyone at any age. At Fairbrook Grove Assisted Living Home, in Mesa AZ, we believe that vitality and enjoying life doesn’t have to end. Each person can live a fulfilling enjoyable life til the end if they choose to.

At Fairbrook Grove Assisted Living Home Mesa AZ, we work really hard to help create a loving, fulfilling life for each of our residents until they pass on. One of the ways we do that is by focusing on their emotional well-being. Dementia, loss of independence, and fear of transitioning from this life can really affect how someone feels.

At Fairbrook Grove, we like to utilize both medical resources and also holistic natural processes.

Some of the medical resources can help residents get balanced on the correct medications for their emotional needs. Aging can cause chemical imbalances which then causes stress and anxiety which might make them feel sad, confused or upset. Medical treatments and medications can help during these times. A person may need an antidepressant, or something to help calm the symptoms. Julie, the RN on sight, works diligently with the health care professional to get their medications balanced so they are in a peaceful happy state and not a constant struggle with anxiety or sadness. This can make a huge difference in their way of living and enjoyment of life.

Some of the holistic ways we help increase emotional health is by having activities each day they can participate in and be social. This could be daily exercises, ongoing puzzles and table activities, bingo, musical performances, church services, parties or visitors. We make sure they are clean and dressed nice with their hair done each day so they feel comfortable in their own skin. This increases anyone’s emotional well-being to be well taken care of. Our church services also help them feel purpose and a connection to something greater than themselves. Connecting to their spiritual well-being can bring a lot of peace and comfort, especially in their time of life.

We also make sure to focus on their nutrition, and supplements. With their doctors approval, this could be a daily multivitamin, probiotics, and more. Vitamin D and omega-3 supplements can specifically help with preventing depression and helping someone feel more balanced. We also try to take residents outside when the weather is nice for lunch or an activity so they can enjoy the fresh air, sunshine and natural beauty.

At Fairbrook Grove Assisted Living Home Mesa AZ, we keep a high standard in the hiring of caregivers. One of our requirements is that they truly love people and especially the elderly. Having people care for them who they know care for and love them, makes a huge difference. It can create the family feel and friends they can count on to care for them.

Emotionally balanced is a huge part of enjoying life. Emotional, Spiritual and Physical balance go hand in hand for a person's total well-being. It is important to us that we have the ability to help in this area of their life. We know this might not be a focus in every home, but for us, their emotional well-being is just as important as any care we can give.

May you feel balanced and happy as well.
